Leicester City wins Premier League
Leicester City has completed the unthinkable.
Leicester captured its first Premier League title on Monday, with Tottenham's 2-2 draw at Chelsea enough for the Foxes to clinch first place and complete their miraculous journey to the championship. Leicester leads second-place Tottenham by seven points, with Spurs only able to earn six more from its remaining two games.
Leicester had a chance to clinch the title outright on Sunday against Manchester United at Old Trafford, but the 1-1 draw pushed the title chase another day. Tottenham, playing without the suspended Dele Alli, could not extend it until the penultimate weekend, allowing Leicester to cash in on the 5,000-to-1 preseason odds that have accompanied this storied run.

Leicester was in England's third tier as recently as 2008-09, needed a miraculous run at the end of last season to avoid relegation and had never won a top-flight title in its 132 years as a club. The title is also the first for manager Claudio Ranieri.
Behind the inspired attacking play of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, the midfield brute of N'Golo Kante, a consistent back four and a top-notch goalkeeper in Kasper Schmeichel, Leicester has won 22 of its 36 matches. Leicester has only lost to Arsenal (twice) and to Liverpool and will return to action on Saturday at King Power Stadium against Everton expecting a heroes' welcome from the rabid fanbase that has followed the club's sensational season.
