Gianluigi Buffon will play for Juventus until he is at least 40 years old.

The Italian goalkeeper, 38, signed a contract extension through 2018, keeping him in net for the Bianconeri for the foreseeable future. Buffon has put together another stellar season, helping Juventus win its fifth straight Serie A title. The contract extension also means that he'll play through the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Buffon was joined by defender Andrea Barzagli in re-upping for two more seasons, and he envisions even more success at the club where he has been since 2001.

“I’m proud of this further act of trust that the club and the world of Juve have placed in me," Buffon said at a press conference. "I want to emphasis the fact that the path we’re on together is one of strength, with everyone coming together to try and improve and get to the dream and the objective we’re all aiming for [the Champions League]. I think I can reach it with my teammates and this great club which makes us feel secure. In the end the real truth is that player can only express himself at great levels when working with a group, and when there are people behind the scenes who know their stuff.

"I think everyone knows my history with Juventus, I hope it will end in the best way and with more successes."

Buffon also received a gift from Leicester City's Italian manager Claudio Ranieri, as he tweeted a photo of a signed jersey made out to him:

Buffon set a new standard in Serie A this season by recording 974 straight minutes without conceding a goal. He broke the record set by Sebastiano Rossi at AC Milan in 1993-1994.
