Hope Solo will limit time outdoors at Rio Olympics due to Zika concerns

U.S. women's national team goalie Hope Solo plans to play in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, but because of her concern over the Zika virus she plans to limit her time outdoors while in Brazil.
“I’m not sure I’m even going to be leaving the hotel room, outside of practice,” Solo told CNBC on Tuesday.
In February the goalie said she would consider not attending the Games because of the risk involved with being exposed to Zika, which can result in birth defects in newborns.
“I strongly believe that no athlete should be put into this position—to decide between your Olympic dreams and your own health,” Solo said.
Teammate Alex Morgan has also expressed concerns over the virus.

“The Zika virus is definitely a concern. You don't know how long the virus lasts in your system, and that’s an issue for someone who’s trying to get pregnant,” Morgan toldHealth magazine. “I am concerned, but I really do trust the International Olympic Committee about traveling in Brazil. It is kind of scary.”
The U.S. women’s team is coming of a World Cup title and has won three consecutive Olympic gold medals.
