Lionel Messi is experiencing a decrease in pain as he recovers from a back injury he sustained in Friday night’s friendly against Honduras, the Argentina Football Federation announced on Monday.

Messi exited Friday’s game in the 64th minute with what was later diagnosed as a deep lumbar hematoma.

There is still no timeline for Messi’s return or whether he will be available for the start of the tournament. Argentina will open the group stage against Chile on June 6 in a rematch of the 2015 Copa America final.

Argentina’s FA says that he can do his basic daily activities without any stress.
