Two-time defending European Championship winner Spain heads into the 2016 competition with a stunning loss.

Spain, playing on home soil, fell to 137th-ranked Georgia 1-0 on Tuesday, wrapping up its pre-Euro preparations with an astonishing defeat.

Spain had been unbeaten in 11 matches (9-0-2) entering the day, but Tornike Okriashvili scored in the 40th minute, and a mostly first-choice side couldn't find an answer.

Georgia has surprisingly played Spain pretty tightly in their three all-time meetings. They were paired in the same 2014 World Cup qualifying group, and Spain won both matches, by 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines. The 1-0 result was decided late, by an 86th-minute Roberto Soldado strike.

On Tuesday, Georgia pounced on a midfield turnover to create its opportunity. Jambul Jighauri found an unmarked Okriashvili at the doorstep for an easy tap-in, while Spain defenders raised their arms expecting an offside call.
