Williams was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to Andrew Barlow, who plays for AFC Brynford. Barlow suffered a complete break of his tibia and fibula.

Williams reportedly tackled Barlow out of revenge after a 50–50 call didn’t go his way.

Referee Mark Stokes, who officiated the match, discussed the viciousness of the tackle.

“That challenge was probably the worst one I have seen in my time as a referee,” Stokes said. “It wasn’t a challenge; it was a kick. There was no attempt to kick the ball.”

Barlow had rods inserted into his leg to repair the injury.
