Sepp Blatter appeal decision to be announced Monday
The Court of Arbitration for Sport said it will announce the verdict in former FIFA president Sepp Blatter's appeal against a six-year ban for unethical conduct on Monday.
Blatter denies authorizing a $2 million payment to former UEFA president Michel Platini in 2011, but says he will accept whatever punishment the court decides to hand down. Both men received six-year bans last December.
Originally, Blatter and Platini received eight-year suspensions, but CAS cut Platini's ban to four years.
Blatter, who was FIFA's boss from 1998 to 2015, has said the payment was made for consultancy work.
Swiss authorities have opened separate criminal proceedings into FIFA's bid process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Blatter resigned in June 2015 after a total of 14 people were indicted and charged with racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracies by the United States Justice Department, which accused FIFA of decades of "rampant, systemic, and deep-rooted" corruption by members of world soccer's governing body.
The 80-year-old Blatter still faces another FIFA ethics investigation over alleged bribery and self-dealing in his contract, and deals of his former secretary general Jerome Valcke and finance director Markus Kattner.
