Arsenal's latest signing, Denis Suarez, insisted he 'pushed hard' to complete his loan move from Barcelona during his first interview for his new club.

Suarez, 25, officially completed his temporary move to the Emirates on deadline day, with the Gunners having the option to buy the Spanish midfielder following the completion of his loan spell at the end of the season.

After being limited to just eight appearances for Barcelona this season, Suarez has revealed his joy at joining the Gunners, as well as continuing his 'good relationship' with Unai Emery, after the pair spent the 2014/15 season together at Sevilla.

Speaking to Arsenal's official website, Suarez said: "I'm very pleased to be here and to be joining Arsenal. I've been pushing hard to come here. I'm finally here now and I’m really pleased.

"I have a very good relationship with him. I spent a year with him at Sevilla when we won the Europa League. I think he’s a very demanding coach and one of the best coaches in the world right now - I’ve been saying that for a while.

"I’m really happy to have the chance to work with him again and I hope that the rest of the season is successful for me and the club."

Suarez's first game for Arsenal could be against the reigning Premier League champions, and one of his former clubs, Manchester City, as the midfielder revealed his target of securing Champions League qualification for the Gunners and success in the Europa League come May.

He added: "I've come here to play as much as possible and try to help the team qualify for the Champions League. I'd like to win the Europa League with Arsenal too - why not? It’s a trophy I won under Unai Emery at Sevilla and I’d love to win it again here."
