Daniel Sturridge was once a 20-goal a season striker for Liverpool, when partnered alongside Luis Suarez, nowadays Reds fans want him nowhere near the pitch.

This was never more apparent than in Liverpool's 0-0 draw with Manchester United on Sunday. Sturridge looked a shadow of his former self offering no attacking movement or creativity.

The England international was subbed on for Roberto Firmino in the 31st minute to the surprise of many Liverpool fans with Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi remaining on the bench.

Origi has been preferred to Sturridge in recent weeks and Shaqiri was the difference maker in the reverse fixture at Anfield, netting a brace as Liverpool overcame their rivals in a 3-1 win.

Many Liverpool fans were quick to voice their displeasure on Twitter about Sturridge being brought on.
