MANCHESTER, England (AP) Max Taylor’s year started with him undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.

It will end with him potentially making his senior debut for Manchester United.

The 19-year-old center back has been included by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in United’s squad for the Europa League match against Astana in Kazakhstan. He only returned to training in September for the first time in 11 months.

Taylor, who was born in Manchester and joined United in 2014 after a trial, says “the position I was in this time last year - I was in my first few weeks where I had chemotherapy - I wouldn't have thought, a year on, I'd be traveling with the first team.”

Taylor says “it doesn't matter what the environment is like, just being out there is massive.”

Taylor has made two appearances for Manchester United’s Under-23s since returning to action.

United has already qualified for the knockout stage of the Europa League.
