Kylian Mbappe Posts Message to French Fans After World Cup Loss
It was a heartbreaking loss for all of France when Les Bleus fell in Sunday’s World Cup final against Argentina. The French national team rallied from a two-goal deficit but fell in penalty kicks in a match for the ages.
Perhaps no one gave more than star forward Kylian Mbappé, who scored a hat trick in the loss. He’s just the second player in history to score a hat trick in the World Cup final. Only England’s Geoff Hurst previously had accomplished the feat, leading his team to victory against West Germany in 1966.
Once the magnitude of the match settled in for Mbappé, he tweeted a simple message to his fans Monday morning.
“Nous reviendrons,” he said in the tweet.
The message translates as, “We will return,” in English, and it has 1.4 million likes just hours after being posted. The 23-year-old superstar helped lead France to a World Cup final win in 2018 and is expected to excel for Les Bleus for years to come.
