Everton and Crystal Palace pulled off one of the more unusual transfer deals of the summer, swapping Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson. Now, the two players could go head-to-head immediately, with their new teams meeting in the opening weekend of the 2026–27 Premier League season at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.

Everton hold the historical edge, winning 29 of the previous meetings and losing 15. Palace’s last Premier League victory over the Toffees came in December 2021, while Everton have won six of the nine meetings since.

The numbers from last season also give Everton a slight advantage. David Moyes’ side finished four points ahead of Palace, scoring five more goals while conceding just one fewer. Both teams averaged a little over 11 shots per game, suggesting another closely fought contest could be in store.
