Mother's Day: Anita Sher at the South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club Spring Classic Competition

52 year-old mother of two and Assistant Commissioner for New York City’s Emergency Management Office, Anita literally carries her weight. Saturday April 29th, 2017 she set the New York State Powerlifting Record in the bench press (154lbs), deadlift (270lbs) and total weightlift (633lbs) for her division at the South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club Spring Classic Competition. It was her second competition breaking all of her own records in over 30 years since being an All-American powerlifter at Lafayette College.  “It makes me feel strong and confident. At 50+ I wanted to see if I could do it again.” - Anita Sher
