LeBron James had a memorable 2020, even by his already sky-high standings. He led the Lakers through one of the strangest regular seasons of all time, beginning with an international scandal, through the tragic death of a franchise icon, into a global pandemic and the ensuing bubble. Through it all, James emerged with his fourth NBA title, and began solidifying his place in the league history books, moving into third all-time on the scoring list. 

But James' accomplishments on the court were matched by his efforts off of it. In launching More Than A Vote, James worked tirelessly to combat voter suppression, misinformation aimed specifically at the Black community, and to expand voting access for all. It was his excellence on the court, coupled with his grace and courage off it, that makes LeBron James one of SI's 2020 Sportspersons of the Year.
