The right man for the job

I just connected with an old college classmate whom I’d lost touch with. I was surprised to learn, he's become a full-time college tennis coach. No slouch of a tennis player, Jeff Wyshner was the captain of our intramural basketball and tennis teams. He was admirably hardcore, diagramming plays and arranging extra late-night practices on a squash court. I probably should have realized then how committed he was to coaching.

While attending Columbia Law School, Jeff moonlighted as a tennis coach at Manhattan College. He was offered a job at a prominent Manhattan law firm but they  told him they couldn’t accommodate his requests to continue coaching. I suspect it was to their great surprise that he told the firm to take a hike. He turned down a full-time job in law to stay on a college coach.
