So much for the hotly anticipated third-round showdown between top-seeded Rafael Nadal and Canadian star-in-waiting Milos Raonic.

The 31st-seeded Raonic, a big-serving 20-year-old who broke through with a run to the last 16 at this year's Australian Open, suffered a right leg injury Wednesday during a second-round match with Luxembourg's Gilles Muller.

Serving at 2-1 in the first set, Raonic slipped on the grass while changing direction on the baseline and tumbled awkwardly to the grass. He attempted to continue after a 10-minute medical break, even managing to hold serve, but was aced three times in the following game before retiring.
