Roger Federer was voted the best player to ever compete at the Swiss Indoors in his hometown, Basel. Federer, who served as a ball boy at the tournament when he was younger, has reached the final seven times and won the title four of the last five years. He ran away with the fan contest with 79 percent of the 40,000 votes cast.

“That I was able to get the award was maybe not the biggest surprise because I’m the record holder of titles here in Basel after all and I am from here, so it was a bit of a home-court advantage," Federer said. "But still it’s nice to go out and greet the Swiss fans."

Considering this is a man who received write-in votes to serve in the Swiss Senate without even running, let's just say we don't need to ask for a recount of the hanging chads. They like him in Switzerland. They really, really like him.
