Spain's Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino wins Bogota title

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) -- Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino of Spain won her first WTA title by defeating Alexandra Panova of Russia 6-2, 7-5 Sunday in the final of the Copa BBVA Colsanitas.

The 19-year-old Arruabarrena-Vecino becomes the latest in a long line of Spanish players to dominate the tournament on red clay.

The event was bound to produce an unexpected winner. All eight seeded players were knocked out in the first two rounds, some bothered by the altitude of 8,600 feet in the Colombian capital.
