BNP Paribas Showdown at MSG

Maria Sharapova beat Caroline Wozniacki 6-3, 6-4 and Andy Roddick topped Roger Federer 7-5, 7-6 (7) at the BNP Paribas Showdown exhibition at Madison Square Garden.

Wozniacki and Sharapova were pretty serious to start out, but the match got fun as it went on.

Rory McIlroy, Wozniacki's boyfriend, watched alongside Wozniacki's father, Piotr (right).

At one point, Wozniacki gestured for McIlroy to come onto the court.

McIlroy obliged.

McIlroy won a point off Sharapova. Here's video.

Don't be alarmed. Sharapova is dancing with a member of the audience in the second set.

Sharapova also argued (in jest) with a line judge.

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor were among the celebs in attendance, as was John Legend.

The men's match was highlighted by a microcosmic point between Federer and Roddick. The Swiss hit a tweener and then the American attempted his own, but it went into the net. Roddick reacted by throwing his racket, which almost hit a ballgirl.

Federer appeases the autograph and camera-phone-picture seekers.
