Serena Williams: From one court to another.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Serena will guest star on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva, a show described by Wikipedia as "an American legal comedy-drama/fantasy television series." But in an odd casting twist, Serena won't be playing the diva.

EW has learned exclusively that Williams will play Kelly Stevens, a family lawyer representing Elisa Shayne (Brandy Norwood) in a bitter, life-changing custody battle against Jay Parker (the drama’s Josh Stamberg). Norwood first appeared last season as the estranged ex-girlfriend of Jay.

“I had heard that Serena was a fan of the show, so I reached out to her directly,” said Josh Berman, Diva’s creator and executive producer. “The writers developed this part specifically for her.  I can’t wait to watch Serena serve it up on our set.”

This isn't Serena's first foray onto the small screen. She's guest starred on ER, Law and Order: SVU and The Division, and has even lent her voice to animation, like Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Want to judge Serena's acting chops for yourself? Here she is playing a schoolteacher on My Wife and Kids (she comes on around the 3:35 mark).
