• Brian Baker continues to be the tennis comeback story of the year. Sure, securing a main draw wild card to Roland Garros was nice, but why stop there? Why not go notch your first ATP Tour win since 2005 by beating Sergiy Stakhovsky in Nice, and then go on and beat Gael Monfils in straight sets? Yup, that happened.

• Andy Roddick's return to clay hasn't been particularly fun for him. He's won six games in two matches in Düsseldorf, losing to Carlos Berlocq and Tomas Berdych. In quintessential Roddick fashion, he also vaporized a racket against Berlocq.

• ESPN looks at life at Roland Garros before Rafael Nadal moved in and made it his sanctuary, a place where characters reigned, none more so than one Gustavo Kuerten.

• Meanwhile, Pete Bodo says Nadal changed the way we saw the historically topsy-turvy French Open.

Nadal ... accomplished something not very many coaches or former players might have thought possible: He re-defined the French Open as a tournament that could be dominated, mastered by a man with a specific (if unconventional) set of tools. I rate that very high among the intangibles that season our appreciation of a player and his accomplishments.

• Boris Becker thinks Andy Murray should pull out the French Open. Yeah, I'm sure that would go over splendidly in the land of fish, chips, and "Who, that guy? He's Scottish, anyway."

• Kim Clijsters is shooting to come back in Rosmalen next month. With all due respect to Kim, I'll believe it when I see it.
