METZ, France (AP) -- Seventh-seeded Gael Monfils beat second-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-4 at the Moselle Open on Friday to reach his first semifinal since February.

Monfils, making his return at the indoor tournament in Metz after several months out with a knee injury, broke Kohlschreiber for the sixth time in the match before clinching victory on serve.

The Frenchman will face fifth-seeded Andreas Seppi of Italy, who had a 7-5, 6-2 win against No. 4 Florian Mayer of Germany.

Seppi played consistently, winning 97 percent of points behind his first serve and breaking Mayer twice in each set.

Later Friday, top-seeded defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France will play American Jesse Levine, and No. 8 Nikolay Davydenko will face Ivo Karlovic.
