• Video: Eurosport's WATTS montage for this year's Australian Open isn't the best one it's ever done, but I put more blame on the source material. The Maria Sharapova/Joy Division moment at the 10:55 mark was inspired, though.

• CNN reports that Arthur Ashe memorabilia will be auctioned off on the 20th anniversary of his death. Among the items up for sale:

-- With a starting bid of $2,500, Ashe's 1993 day planner that contains "his own handwritten record of his very last days." The entries include reminders to finish a farewell message to his daughter and a note to cancel an Olympics meeting.

-- With a starting bid of $1,000, the U.S. Open doubles trophy silver plate awarded to Ashe in 1968. He went on to win the men's singles.

-- With a starting bid of $1,000, "unique and personal items owned by Arthur Ashe, including two of his wisdom teeth."

• Andy Murray is skipping any tournaments between now and Indian Wells (which begins March 4) to focus on training.

• USA Today reports that the NCAA has put the men's tennis program at Southern Miss on four years of probation and issued a one-year postseason ban for a number of violations.

The NCAA, according to its public report, found that two former tennis coaches at the school offered a player $5,000 and a car to remain at Southern Miss instead of transferring. The former head coach, Teddy Viator, had also offered $200 to a player to win a match in which he was trailing and organized an illegal foreign tour to the Bahamas in 2008. He was also cited for academic misconduct, arranging for a student-athlete at the school to write a paper for one of his players.

• Defending champion Serena Williams has confirmed for the Family Circle Cup.

• Speaking of great tournaments, sad to hear that Paul Flory, former tournament director of the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, has died. He was 90.

• The Australian Open is looking into ways to not have things -- i.e., fireworks -- explode in the sky during play. Fingers crossed.

• An op-ed piece in The Brisbane Times laments the bygone era of the one-handed backhand.

• Williams, Victoria Azarenka, Laura Robson, Sloane Stephens and Janko Tipsarevic make SI.com's list of 60 athletes to follow on Instagram.
