Soccer legend Diego Maradona was on hand at the Dubai Championships on Wednesday, enjoying the day's play alongside dignitaries and even conducting a coin toss for the doubles match between Liezel Huber and Hsieh Su-Wei and Sania Mirza and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

Maradona was appointed an honorary sports ambassador for the city-state last September. According to this report from NDTV Sports, "An honorary sports ambassador's task is to represent the sheikhdom in order to improve Dubai's publicity in relation to its readiness to host major international sports events. The government of Dubai has frequently expressed ambitions to host Olympics or the FIFA World Cup."
