Serena Williams began her 2014 season with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Andrea Petkovic at the Brisbane International, but there are still a few kinks in her game that need to be ironed out. Up 6-3, 3-2, she completely whiffed on a put-away swing volley, eliciting gasps from the crowd and a wry smile from Petkovic.
