Photos: Australian Open fashion hits

MELBOURNE, Australia -- So fresh and so clean. That's the goal for the looks a the Australian Open, where manufacturers have gone for softer tones that contrast well with the sea of blue courts. Maria Sharapova wins top marks for the ladies, while Roger Federer takes it home for the men. I know they're sweating buckets under the Aussie sun, but the way Nike has designed both their kits you wouldn't know it.

Here are my favorite kits from the Australian Open. (Click here for the fashion misses.)

Roger-Federer-13

Roger Federer: Nike looks to have shortened the length of his shorts, which makes them look a bit like boxer shorts, but it's a crisp, clean look for Federer. (Getty Images)

Maria-Sharapova-6

Maria Sharapova: Even when she was sweating up a storm under temperatures deemed too dangerous to play in, Sharapova looked cool and fresh. That's a pretty remarkable achievement. I love the simple blue dress matched with the fun shorts. (Eugene Hoshiko/AP)

Venus Williams

Venus Williams: The best EleVen dress in years. It's a shame we got to see it for only one round. (Mal Fairclough/AFP/Getty Images)

Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic

Daniela Hantuchova (left) and Ana Ivanovic: In the Nike vs. Adidas wars, Adidas takes the Australian Open. I wasn't sold on the cowl neck initially, but it's a nice detail that adds some elegance to its standard dress. (Clive Brunskill/Getty Images; Rick Rycroft/AP)

Juan Martin del Potro

Juan Martin del Potro: Smart of del Potro (or Nike) to pair his dark colors with white accessories. It makes the whole kit look brighter. (Michael Dodge/Getty Images)

Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki: OK, yes, the dress kind of looks like your grandma's curtains, but this Stella McCartney number actually photographs really nicely, particularly when Woz is on the move. (Cameron Spencer/Getty Images)
