ATP rankings: Gael Monfils returns to top 25 after winning title in France

Gael Monfils moved up to No. 23 in this week's ATP rankings after winning the Open Sud de France on Sunday. With his seven-spot jump, the 27-year-old Frenchman reached his highest ranking since July 2012.

A year ago, Monfils was out of the top 100 after missing nearly four months with a knee injury. But he's now already won a title, the fifth of his career, and been a runner-up, at the Qater Open, this year.

In other rankings news:

• Fabio Fognini rose one spot, to a career-high No. 14, after winning the Chile Open, his third title in his last four clay-court tournaments.

• Bradley Klahn, 23, passed Donald Young to become the No. 3 American after winning an ATP Challenger in Adelaide, Australia. He's up to a career-high No. 67, only 11 spots behind the second-ranked American, No. 56 Sam Querrey. John Isner is the top American, at No. 13.

• Benoit Paire (who fell from No. 24 to No. 29), Jurgen Melzer (No. 32 to No. 38) and Robin Haase (No. 41 to No. 46) had the biggest drops among top-50 players.

• Leonardo Mayer climbed from No. 91 to No. 58 after advancing to the Chile Open final.
