Video: Gael Monfils hits lefty winner while falling down because he can

Tennis' human highlight reel does it again.

Perhaps having exhausted all the incredible trick shots he can hit with his right hand, Gael Monfils created one with his left hand at the Open Sud de France last week.

During his 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Jarkko Nieminen in the semifinals, Monfils was wrong-footed by a volley going behind him. He quickly tried to change direction, but he slipped and started to fall. So the 27-year-old Frenchman did what any of us would do: He put his racket in his left hand and hit a forehand passing-shot winner while falling backward onto the court.

Monfils went on to beat Richard Gasquet in the final to win his fifth career title. He plays No. 4 Juan Martin del Potro in the first round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Wednesday.
