Video: Roger Federer shows off his touch with a 'tweener in Dubai win

Roger Federer on Monday won his first match since the Australian Open, defeating Benjamin Becker 6-1, 6-4 in the first round of the Dubai Championships. He played a trademark Federer point that left the crowd roaring in the middle of the second set. Long story short, Federer's new, larger racket frame hasn't taken away any of his touch.

On the heels of some great defense from the baseline, Federer was drawn into the net by a short slice from Becker and then had to scurry back to chase down a lob. Federer hit a perfect tweener lob with enough topspin to carry off the court. Becker could only get back a soft backhand reply and Federer finished it off with an easy ball into the open court.

A five-time champion in Dubai, Federer is seeking to continue his good start to the season. Federer told reporters after the match that he's happy with his level of play and doesn't feel the need to improve on his Melbourne form.

"I'm playing top tennis right now, so I don't need to top that stuff," Federer said, referring to his semifinal run at the Australian Open. "It's a matter of staying healthy now, staying consistent, and getting to semifinals and finals consistently and giving myself opportunities. I feel I am in good enough shape as in a year at least now."
