A collection of our favorite quotes from the early rounds of the Sony Open:

• "My advice is you've got to make sure you wear the clothes and not [let] the clothes wear you. It's quite simple in a way. Don't wear something you totally feel uncomfortable with, but take some chances. Play around a bit. I felt very uncomfortable in suits when I was younger, so what I just started doing was wearing suits when I was going to dinner. I used to overdress a little bit so I got used to wearing suits. Now wearing a suit is like wearing a track suit for me. So it's all good."

-- Maria Sharapova, on whether she was disappointed or surprised that her opening-round prime-time match on Stadium Court wasn't televised.

Q.  There were some harsh words on Tennis Channel saying they were not sure if you were trying to act cool or if you didn't care tonight during the match. What would you say in response to that?

[But] I'm happy he says this, because it's always good comments from someone like Andy."

Q: Have you ever talked to Serena about nails? She's like a certified professional nail person.

Li: I think the professional for the tour is [Agnieszka] Radwanska. I think she do pretty. Really. She do herself.
