ATP rankings: Milos Raonic reaches career-high No. 9

Milos Raonic climbed to a career-high No. 9 in this week's ATP Tour rankings after making the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters. Raonic, 23, moved up one spot and replaced Richard Gasquet, who slipped to 11th after missing Monte Carlo with a back injury.
Last August, Raonic became the first Canadian man to crack the top 10. He's 10-4 this season and is one of three players (along with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic) to reach the quarterfinals of the year's first three Masters 1000 tournaments. In other rankings news:
• As noted earlier, Stanislas Wawrinka retained the No. 3 ranking by defeating Federer in Sunday's final. Wawrinka also took over the top spot in the Race to London.
• There was one change in the top five, as new No. 5 David Ferrer and No. 6 Tomas Berdych switched positions. Ferrer made the Monte Carlo semifinals while Berdych lost to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the third round.
• Garcia-Lopez has trimmed his ranking nearly in half, from No. 62 to No. 32, this year. In his last two tournaments, the 30-year-old Spaniard has won the Casablanca title and advanced to the Monte Carlo quarterfinals. His six-spot jump this week gives Spain eight of the top 32.
