ROME -- Roger Federer sent a tweet to confirm his arrival in Rome for this week's Italian Open. Federer's participation was in doubt after he withdrew from the Madrid Open last week to be with his wife Mirka after the birth of their twin sons.

On Monday, Federer thanked his fans on Twitter for their congratulatory messages and then added, "Oh and btw ciao tutti, I just arrived in bella Italia! Looking forward to Rome."
