Sousa, Nieminen advance at Moselle Open

METZ, France (AP) Joao Sousa saved all four break points to beat Ivan Dodig 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the Moselle Open on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded Sousa will next play Igor Sijsling at the indoor tournament.

Finnish veteran Jarkko Nieminen set up a meeting with former Wimbledon semifinalist Jerzy Janowicz after beating Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-1, 6-4.

After playing a crucial part in France's 4-1 win over Czech Republic in the Davis Cup semifinals over the weekend, top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was to play Gilles Muller later Wednesday.

The 11th-ranked Tsonga is looking for a strong finish to his season as he still stands a chance to qualify for the ATP finals in London from Nov. 9-16.

Also, David Goffin advanced with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over French qualifier Florent Serra.
