Robredo beats Seppi to make semis of Shenzhen Open

SHENZHEN, China (AP) Fourth-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain outlasted eighth-seeded Andreas Seppi of Italy 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-3 to make the Shenzhen Open semifinals on Friday.

Robredo hit 19 aces in the 2-hour, 36-minute quarterfinal at Shenzhen Longgang Sports Center.

He awaits either qualifier Viktor Troicki of Serbia or sixth-seeded Santiago Giraldo of Colombia.

Second-seeded Andy Murray faced Lukas Lacko of Slovakia late Friday. Murray was looking for a strong showing in the three-week Asian swing to improve his chances of qualifying for the ATP Finals in London next month.
