WASHINGTON (AP)—Feliciano Lopez ended Lleyton Hewitt's last appearance in the Citi Open with a 4–6, 7–5, 6–3 second-round victory Wednesday over the two-time major champion.

The seventh-seeded Lopez wound up with a 44–23 edge in winners, including 15 aces, in the 2-hour, 10-minute match.

Lopez lost his first four career matches against Hewitt but now has won the past two. Hewitt is a former No. 1 player who has said he will retire after January's Australian Open and received a wild-card entry into Washington's hard-court tuneup for the U.S. Open.

Next for Lopez is a match against Sam Groth, who beat Viktor Troicki 6–3, 6–4.
