Fish opens next-to-last tournament with upset of Troicki
MASON, Ohio (AP) Mardy Fish opened the next-to-last tournament of his career with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 upset of 20th-ranked Viktor Troicki in the first round of the Western & Southern Open on Monday.
Fish, a wild-card entrant who already has announced that the U.S. Open will be his last event before retiring, advanced to face second-ranked Andy Murray after his first singles victory on tour in almost two years. He last won Aug. 18, 2013, beating Evgeny Donskoy in three sets at Winston-Salem.
In another first-round match, Thomaz Bellucci beat Jiri Vesely 7-6 (5), 6-2.
