Federer, Wawrinka lead Swiss to 2-0 lead over Netherlands

GENEVA (AP) Roger Federer cruised and Stan Wawrinka labored in lifting Switzerland to a 2–0 lead over the Netherlands in a Davis Cup relegation playoff on Friday.

Facing an opponent ranked 434 places below him, No. 2 Federer eased to a 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Jesse Huta Galung in the second singles rubber.

Fourth-ranked Wawrinka earlier trailed by two sets to one before overcoming No. 144 Thiemo De Bakker 2–6, 6–3, 4–6, 6–3, 7–5 in more than three hours.

Federer and Wawrinka, the 2008 Olympic doubles champions, are scheduled to face the Dutch pairing of Matwe Middelkoop and Tim van Rijthoven on Saturday.
