France to play Netherlands on clay in Fed Cup semifinal

PARIS (AP) France has chosen to play on clay when it hosts the Netherlands in the Fed Cup semifinals in April.

The tie will be at the 4,400-seat Arena Loire in Trelaze in northwestern France from April 16-17, the French Tennis Federation said Friday.

France leads the Netherlands 5-1 in head-to-heads, but the teams have not met since the 1997 final, won 4-1 by France.

Two-time winner France captured its other Fed Cup in 2003, while the Netherlands has never won it, finishing runner-up twice.
