Djokovic beats Coric, advances to Madrid Open 3rd round

MADRID (AP) Top-ranked Novak Djokovic eased into the third round of the Madrid Open by beating Borna Coric 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Djokovic had not played in Madrid since 2013 and said that although he didn't serve well against the 19-year-old Croatian - the youngest competitor in the tournament - he was satisfied with his game.

An injury prevented Djokovic from playing in Madrid in 2014 and he was absent last year.

Djokovic served four double faults but relied on his return to overpower Coric.

Djokovic claimed his only Madrid title in 2011 when he beat Rafael Nadal in the final.
