NANCHANG, China (AP) Third-seeded Francesca Schiavone defeated Yang Zhaoxuan 6-0, 6-4 in the first round of Jiangxi Open on Tuesday.

Former French Open champion Schiavone needed just over an hour to beat her Chinese opponent and set up a second round match against another local player, Lu Jiajing.

Lu came from behind to beat Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.

Three other Chinese players - Zhu Lin, Liu Fangzhou and Zhang Ying - also recorded victories and moved into the second round.

In other first round matches, sixth-seeded American Vania King beat Australian qualifier Storm Sanders 6-4, 6-2, while Miyu Kato of Japan came back after losing the first set to beat Urszula Radwanska of Poland 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
