NANCHANG, China (AP) Duan Yingying continued her surprise run at the Jiangxi Open when she upset second-seeded Kurumi Nara of Japan 6-1, 7-5 Friday in the quarterfinals.

The 163rd-ranked Chinese beat eighth-seeded Han Xinyun in the second round.

Duan plays Misa Eguchi in the semifinals after the Japanese defeated Liu Fangzhou 6-1, 6-2.

Seventh-seeded Risa Ozaki of Japan ousted third-seeded Francesca Schiavone after rallying from a set down to beat the former French Open champion 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.

Ozaki next plays Vania King after the sixth-seeded American dropped only four games in her 6-0, 6-4 victory against fifth-seeded Zhang Kailin.
