The 23-time Grand Slam champion gave birth to her first child on Friday, Us Weekly reports. Williams and her fiancee, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, reportedly welcomed a baby girl at a hospital in Florida.

Venus Williams was asked about her sister giving birth before her Friday match at the U.S. Open.

“Obviously I’m super excited," she said. "Words can’t describe.”

Williams, 35, announced her pregnancy in April, three months after winning the Australian Open. Williams was in the early stages of pregnancy when she won the tournament, one of just two events she played this season.

Her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, said he expected Williams to return to tennis in January.
