The Phoenix Mercury won their third WNBA title on Friday, completing a three-game sweep of the Chicago Sky with an 87-82 win.

Diana Taurasi, who had 24 points and five assists, was named Finals MVP for the second time. She also won the award in 2009, when the Mercury last won the title.

Mercury center Brittney Griner sat out Game 3 following surgery to correct a retinal issue in her right eye, which was hit in Game 2.

Phoenix finished the regular season a WNBA-best 29-5, went 7-1 in the postseason and won the first two games against the Sky by an average of 25 points.
