Phoenix Mercury bring back Penny Taylor

PHOENIX (AP) The Phoenix Mercury have re-signed forward Penny Taylor, reuniting the starting lineup that won the 2014 WNBA title.

Terms of the deal announced Monday were not disclosed.

The 34-year-old Taylor has been a mainstay with the Mercury, helping lead them to three WNBA championships since arriving in 2004. A two-time WNBA All-Star, she is second on the franchise's all-time list in points, assists, steals and games played.

Taylor did not play in the WNBA last season, leaving the Mercury without two of their top two players with Diana Taurasi deciding to take the WNBA season off as well.

Taurasi is expected to return and will join Taylor with 6-foot-8 center Brittney Griner.

Taylor also is a two-time Olympic silver medalist with Australia.
