Ogwumike scores 20 and Sun earn 86-64 win over Fever

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Chiney Ogwumike had 20 points and eight rebounds, Alyssa Thomas added 14 points, and the Connecticut Sun beat the Indiana Fever 86-64 on Wednesday.

Connecticut was ahead by 17 points midway through the second quarter, but Indiana scored the first nine points of the second half to tie it at 44-all. The Fever only made two more field goals in the third quarter as Connecticut closed on a 19-5 run for a 63-49 lead.

Shekinna Stricklen made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points for Connecticut (6-14), ranked 11th in the AP power poll. Ogwumike hit 10 of 12 free throws and the Sun went 19 of 26 from the line, compared to just seven makes for Indiana.

Lynetta Kizer made 9 of 11 shots and scored 18 points for fifth-ranked Indiana (9-12). The rest of team was just 16 of 58 from the field (28 percent).

It was the largest margin of victory this season for Connecticut, which won its five previous games by a combined 15 points.
