Sun rookie Morgan Tuck to have season-ending knee surgery

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) Connecticut Sun rookie forward Morgan Tuck will miss the rest of the WNBA season because of a left knee injury.

The Sun said Thursday that Tuck will have surgery to repair torn cartilage. She was injured Sunday in a loss at Atlanta.

The third overall pick has appeared in 26 games, averaging seven points for the last-place Sun (10-17).

Tuck has a history of knee problems. She missed most of her sophomore season at UConn to have surgery that replaced missing cartilage in her right knee. She was granted an extra year of eligibility, but said she chose to turn pro after last season in part because she wasn't sure how many more years she would be able to play on that knee.

Tuck says she plans to return to the Sun next season.
