Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu Says Shoes Were Stolen at Opposing Arena

In this story:
One of Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu’s worst basketball nightmares happened on Thursday ahead of the team’s matchup vs. the Aces in Las Vegas.
The guard posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, to say that her custom-made Sabrina 1 Nike basketball shoes were stolen from her in the Michelob Ultra Arena.
Ionescu was most concerned about losing the insoles from the shoes as they were tailored to help with her previous ankle injury that sidelined her for the majority of her rookie season in 2020.
“Never thought I would get my shoes stolen from an opposing arena…” Ionescu wrote. “Please just bring me my insoles back. RIP to my Sabrina 1s.”

WNBA reporter Khristina Williams posted that a source said the Michelob Ultra Arena security planned to review footage to see if they can find out what might have become of Ionescu’s shoes.
The two-time All-Star didn’t say what shoes she plans to wear for Thursday night’s game. Even without the specific insoles, she most likely has a back-up pair to use as the Eastern Conference-leading Liberty take on the Aces (27–3) at 10 p.m. ET.
