Ex-Oregon guard Damyean Dotson to sign with Houston
The players denied the allegations, saying that the sex was consensual. Prosecutors declined to press charges against the players, citing lack of evidence.
The female student is suing Oregon, saying her Title IX rights were violated and that the university showed "deliberate indifference" in bringing Austin to campus knowing about his past behavior at Providence.
Dotson, a Houston native. has been taking classes at a local community college. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
"A lot of people don't get a second chance," Dotson told the Houston Chronicle. "They say one chance comes in a lifetime. To have a second chance, I can't mess this up."
He told the paper that he has been working with former NBA player John Lucas and took an anger management course.
"I believe this made me stronger, made me wiser, made me mature even quicker than I should have been," Dotson said.” Just thinking about what can happen. How quickly things can be taken away makes me enjoy just being successful, just getting a second chance."
Dotson averaged 10.4 points in 70 games with Oregon.
Houston went 13-19 (4-14 American) last season under first-year head coach Kelvin Sampson.
