North Carolina unveils new Air Jordan shoes vs. Maryland
Tuesday December 1st, 2015

The North Carolina Tarheels will debut the new Air Jordan XX9 ‘Mascot’ PE edition shoes when they take on the Maryland Terrapins for Tuesday night's Big Ten/ACC Challenge at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill.

Other Jordan-affiliated schools including Georgetown, Cal and Marquette have their own versions of the XX9 featuring their respective mascots.

Custom North Carolina Air Jordan XX9's were released before the Tarheels played in last year's Sweet 16 and also featured Ramses the Dorset Ram.

The Tarheels are 5–1 in the ACC with their only loss coming to Northern Iowa. North Carolina is ranked ninth in the latest AP and Coaches’ poll.

Kentucky still No. 1 in new AP Poll, shake-up at bottom

Tuesday night’s game will be the first time the Tarheels and Terrapins meet since Maryland switched to the Big Ten conference in 2014.
