Minnesota center Reggie Lynch was released from jail Tuesday, but is still under investigation for criminal sexual conduct, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Lynch was released at noon after a 36-hour holding period expired, but the Hennepin County attorney’s office can still choose to charge him with a crime at a later date. There is no set deadline for how long an investigation can go before a decision about criminal charges must be made.
Lynch was arrested early Sunday morning for allegedly raping a 19-year-old women in a college dorm three hours earlier. The alleged victim received medical treatment after the incident.
The school announced Sunday that Lynch has been suspended from the team indefinitely.
Lynch did not play for the Gophers last season after transferring from Illinois State.
